About

“Creative destruction,” (coined by Joseph Schumpeter in his works) is the theory that during the transformations that occur during innovation, with the new, comes the destruction or death of the old, as they are replaced. Carlota Perez, goes further to describe this phenomenon in more detail, in what she describes as technological revolutions – prevailing and observable clusters, of new and dynamic innovations, in the form of technologies, products and industries, that disrupt the existing structures and functions in technology, management, social and economic institutions.

She outlines 5 major technological revolutions:
The Industrial revolution in 1771.
The Age of Steam and Railways in 1829
The Age of Steel, Electricity and Heavy Engineering in 1875
The Age of Oil, the Automobile and Mass Production in 1908
The Age of Information and Telecommunication in 1971 which we currently live in now. These revolutions occur 50 years apart. The last revolution occurred in 1971. We believe we are on the verge of another of these so called revolutions.

This web blog is an investigation into this new revolution and the changes that occur, as we move into a new age. With the “destruction” of old models and the search for new ones, we will attempt to fill the void and offer commentary, discussions, discovery and advice, as we move forward and replace the old with the new… whatever that may be.
